Corruption in Our US Congress

I am, I truly hate to say, thoroughly disgusted with our United States Congress. Our US Congress, both senators and representatives, have devolved into an organization in which the members provide for themselves, family, friends and contributors. Our United States Congress has demonstrated that it has become thoroughly corrupted.

Congress members continue to use “earmarks” for their own benefit, give themselves automatic raises (on an already very high salary) and excellent health and retirement benefits. And much worse than all of the above is the misuse and mismanagement of our economy and the never-ending kickbacks from organizations that profit from lack of enforcement. A “Massachusetts” For Virginia Beach ?

Can the citizens of Virginia Beach do a “Massachusetts Moment” in the next city Council election in November of 2010? Can they recognize that some citizens in the US have the strength of character and have made themselves aware of the overriding importance of the election and then acted courageously at the ballot box? Must Be Monopoly Money

In the November 2009 five-year forecast for Virginia Beach, City Council states, “This forecast is driven predominantly by declines in revenue.” Obviously, council is trying to blame the deficit of $84.4 million on the citizens of Virginia Beach.

No Surprise

Our Virginia Beach City Council should not be surprised that the latest five-yearforecast report shows annual deficits for the next five years.Previous forecast reports, from the years 2001 through 2009 have deficits forecast for nearly ever year in that 14 year (2002 – 2015) period.
