VIRGINIA BEACH - - The Fraternal Order of Police turned its back on one of its own this week in giving its political endorsement to GOP City Councilman Ron Villanueva for the 21 District House of Delegates seat over incumbent Democrat Bobby Mathieson.

It was an unusual lack of confidence for for Mathieson, a former policeman who was active in the policemen's union.  He is completing his first term in the General Assembly

In other endorsements, the FOP endorsed the GOP's Chris Stolle over Democrat incumbent Joe Bouchard in the 83rd district and Bob McDonnell for Governor,

After he and his Democrat opponent Creigh Deeds appeared separately before the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, that group, although it applauded Deeds' plans for a transportation tax increase, actually endorsed McDonnell.

According to a recent poll McDonnell is leading Deeds 48-44%.
