I am a Republican who lives in Phil Hamilton's district. You were absolutely correct to call on people to vote against Phil Hamilton because of his corruption. I cannot fathom why you didn't apply the same standard to Tom Gear, who held up the nominations of numerous highly-qualified judicial nominees for the sole purpose of trying to engage in the nepotism of having his sister appointed. Tom Gear is an embarrassment to the GOP and should be defeated.

I cannot vote for Ron Villaneuva. he has proven he does not deserve any position where he has a vote on increasing the tax burden on Beach families. We have suffered enough due to this guy. It is past time for him to get fired and be replaced with someone that actaully cares about the citizens and taxpayers.

Purkey has been the definition of incompetent. First, he was actually asleep on the job, embarrassing himself on the floor of the House as he tells Speaker of the House Bill Howell, when called upon, that..."I was asleep."

The resultant guffaws were quickly silenced as the members realized the entire affair was being taped.

Of course, as a senior delegate, Purkey is most known for introducing a bill for a two year term for the Governor, a bill that has never been approved by the House. So much for effectiveness.

So there we have it. VNS endorses an ineffective incumbent who was actually asleep on the job. Says as much about you and the republican party as about Purkey.

The only choice for effective representation in the 82nd is Peter Schmidt. MJB sends!

In 1995, the same year that Peter Schmidt was the Head of the Department of Environmental Quality, an additional set of regulations expanding the "beneficial use-provisions for fly ash" was implemented, this change of regulation allowed for fly ash to be used in open-space projects.

Schmidt is also the owner of Southern Aggregate Corporation, located on the grounds of Virginian’s Dominion coal-fired power plant. “Agglite”, is a Chesapeake based company that utilizes fly ash. It was Schmidt’s Agglite Corporation that aggressively pursued the use of fly ash in place of dirt for fill projects.

In 2002 Agglite sold1.5 million tons of fly ash to build the 217-acre Battlefield Golf Club in Chesapeake, VA. This Battlefield Golf course site is now on the EPA's Superfund program. That means the taxpayer is stuck paying the bill to clean up this mess.

In fact the title page of the minutes of the meeting where fly ash regulation was reduced to "beneficial use" reads "Coal Combustion By-Product Utilization' "Virginia Power and Agglite Corporation"
