Golden VIRGINIA BEACH - - Kenny Golden, one of 6 GOP candidates seeking the 2nd District nomination for congress, disputes Adm. John Harvey's proposal that moving a carrier to FL would be a advantageous.
Harvey argues it would enhance national security and fleet readiness.
Golden, USN-ret, served with Harvey. Golden said, “Dredging Mayport (FL) to make it accessible for a fully loaded nuclear aircraft carrier is certainly a prudent course of action, but relocating a carrier there permanently, under the guise of national security and fleet preparedness, would be a critical mistake and a massive failure.”
Golden opposes the move of any carriers out of the Port of Norfolk.
He said Democrat Congressman Glenn Nye and the state's 2 Democrat senators fumbled this issue for two years. Glenn's lack of military experience and their non support is about to cost this region tens of thousands of jobs."
