Saw two new movies recently. Gave both an "A" for different reasons. Both held my interest for the entire length. Other than that, they were as different as night and day (unless you're north of Alaska where day and night appear the same).
"The Hurt Locker" was all action, excitement and suspense portraying the work of bomb disposal troops in Iraq. I can't judge its authenticity, but I'd be interested in the opinion of a "been-there" soldier.
It was produced and directed by Kathryn Bigelow and did not seem to be overdone with regard to the ususal Hollywood shoot-em-up, for which I give her much credit.
"The Ugly Truth", starring the beautiful Kathrine Heigl and Gerard Butler. I almost didn't see it because the reviews weren't that great, but I'm glad I did. Yes it was silly, but "well done" silly. I can't imagine anyone not laughing out loud at some of the scenes and dialogue. See it if you want an hour and a half of light but solid entertainment.
