CHESAPEAKE - - A new $40 MILLION military prison facility is slated to be built by the U.S. Department of Defense in the Northwest area of Chesapeake.

The prison will have at least 400 cells.

The new facility will house members of all branches of the military services who have been charged with major or minor offenses and are awaiting court martial hearings.

It will replace the existing Camp Allen brig at the Norfolk Naval base which alone has a capacity to hold about 1,000 inmates, Navy and Marine only.

The new prison will be used by the Army, Navy Marines and Air Force, many from outside regional military bases.

The Northwest Navy Support Activity, Norfolk Annex houses a communication network for the Navy.

The base has its' own sewage treatment plant with an outflow emptying into the Northwest River near the intake for Chesapeake's water treatment plant.

The new prison may double the gallons of effluent and and suspended solids discharged into the waterway.

Last week was the annual Retreat of the Virginia Beach City Council. The extremist Virginia Beach Taxpayers Alliance (VBTA) has taken a position opposing all TIFs.

On Wednesday morning, "TIF Direction" came up under action items. John Moss was MIA, while Bill DeSteph just sat there quietly. Thus, the item was struck, with no discussion of TIF policy now scheduled by Council in 2012.

How do the Kool-Aid chuggers feel,  their heroes being zeroes?

It has been more than 100 years since the Virginia General Assembly took a hard look at property rights guarantees in the state constitution. As our lawmakers begin a historic debate about how and whether to safeguard those constitutional protections, it is apparent already that the arguments against property rights protections have a distinct deja vu quality.

In 1902, those who opposed efforts to give Virginians more security in their homes, farms and businesses against eminent domain abuses made the same kind of doom-and-gloom predictions that are heard by opponents today. Opponents argued that the amendment would doom Virginia as an economic backwater, discourage out-of-state investment, drown the courts in lawsuits and bind Virginians to their horses and wagons and to their steep hills and valleys because rights of way would become prohibitively expensive.

They claimed increased protection for property rights would cause progress to come to a screeching halt. Despite this parade of horrors, Virginians amended their constitution in 1902 to correct the rampant property rights abuses of that time.

Remember, gentle readers, that our State Department-appointed, chief negotiator for our disgusting surrender in Afghanistan is none other than Yusuf al Qaradawi.  See:  Story

You remember Yusuf, don’t you?

He played in the minors for awhile, but blew up his arm in his first season with the Astros.  No?  Oh, that's right, he's the leading jurist for the Muslim Brotherhood (MB).

Yep, the President dines with MB swine at the Saudi campaign cash trough set-up at the White House, so the MB agrees to run a few errands for Obammie.

So the nation who put men on the moon, defeated the Japanese and Germans in WW II and gave the world Elvis has drafted a raghead to deal with the ragheads on our behalf and it's not going well?

Gee, what a surprise!

Virginia Beach, VA – 2nd Congressional District Candidate Kenny Golden calls immediate attention to the dumping of US government bonds by the Chinese.

In recent months China has sold over $34 billion in treasury securities; enough for Japan to take over as the nation's largest foreign creditor.

Golden stated, “Our irresponsible ways now place us at the mercy of foreign governments and a monster of our own creation, the Federal Reserve System.”

Golden, former chairman of the Virginia Beach GOP, is one of 6 competing for the party's nomination to oppose Democrat incumbent Glenn Nye.
