Home Letters To The Editor City Council: Virginia Beach Poster Child for Reckless Spending!

Why doesn't the Beach Council wait for the results of the ongoing study it authorized on the subject?

Some $6.6 million was allocated for the study, so why not await the results?

Could preliminary results suggest taxpayers may not want it? A lot of money to waste in these days of shortages!

It would be nice to have a convenient form of mass transit.

It will not, however, be the answer to traffic congestion. One only has to look to European cities: for example, London has a wonderful mass transit system, yet congestion remains so bad that a daily fee of GBP 8 is assessed in an attempt to curb the problem.

The government subsidizes the system in order to keep ticket prices affordable for working people. Caveat emptor!
