This year alone they’ve saddled us with a nearly $2 trillion deficit and a national debt that exceeds $12 trillion.
They’re like irresponsible children with their daddy’s credit card.
Only it is our “credit card” they’re using.
Perriello’s claim of fiscal responsibility, like so many others, rings hollow. While voting against Obama’s budget and several appropriations bills, he fell woefully short by other measures.
Take wasteful pork-barrel spending, for example. This year Perriello’s Democrats will spend $11 billion in projects funded at the specific requests of lawmakers without being scrutinized during committee hearings.
There were 68 amendments to strip from these spending bills federal funding for such outrageous things as potato research, community conference centers, and local farmers markets.
Perriello voted only for two of them.
How can Perriello honestly claim to be fiscally responsible while only voting 3% of the time against wasteful earmarks? Honestly, he can’t.
