Home Letters To The Editor City PR skirt demonstrates again her ability to lie and deceive

2. We all love Ruritans.  Great people and a great service organization. 1,400 conventioneers attended out of their national membership of 32,000. Which means in the middle of the winter we had 4 percent of their members attend. Goes to further the point that in the winter months, you're not going to get folks to leave a cold climate where they live to spend money somewhere else that's also cold.  As I write this it's 38 degrees here in Virginia Beach, while in Las Vegas it's 58. Miami Beach, 82 degrees.

3. Residents flocking to the Boardwalk when the beach is covered with snow? Mary, have you really lost your senses? If the streets are covered with snow and ice, do you really think residents are going to jump in their cars with their families and putting them at risk just to see snow on the beach? The kids were at home playing in the snow having a grand time. When a child wakes up on a snowy morning, do you really think the first thing they say is, "Hey mom, can you drive us to the boardwalk?" Whoever wrote your letter to the editor as a response, they really have reached a new low in intellectual logic and common sense.

I certainly do hope your media and communications department didn't pay a single red cent for this Pilot response like you do for Mayor Sessoms' speeches. Can you imagine that, a mayor not able to write his own speeches? Perhaps the Mayor wrote this letter to the editor challenging Kerry's opinion. On second thought he probably didn't, he's been too busy trying to figure ways to increase taxes and fees and covering up his campaign lies.

4. You say there's a huge risk of damaging cars parked on the streets? Have you never lived in an area that received great deal of snow over the winter months? Come on Mary, don't be so contrary. 5-year-olds aren't reading the newspaper, intelligent adults are and your letter only reinforces the fact that city bureaucrats are totally out of touch with the needs of the residents, yes, we who live here 365 days of the year and not just for a 3 or 4 day visits. We are the ones who are paying 87 percent of the bills, not tourists, so please spare us the diatribe against Kerry Dougherty. Unlike those working for the City, Kerry's opinion usually represents what the citizens think, not just the hoteliers and oceanfront developers.

5. You say the City kept the main roads clear and did it extremely well? If that were the case, why were Virginia Beach schools and City facilities closed for several days and why did schools have a 2-hour opening delay, four days after the snow storm?

Were you out and about in Virginia Beach when the snow came, or were you, like a bear, hibernating in a cave somewhere?

Mary, whoever is writing your material needs to go back to his or her creative writing class and take a refresher course as they evidently slept through the first one. Perhaps the class was also held in a cave. Mary, please, please, no more snow jobs.
