Here’s what Perriello thought was so bad:

  1. Authority for court-approved roving wiretaps that permit surveillance on multiple phones
  2. Allowance for court-approved seizure of records and property in anti-terrorism operations
  3. Authorization for surveillance against a so-called “lone wolf,” a non-U.S. citizen engaged in terrorism that may not be part of a recognized terrorist group.

Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of Perriello’s colleagues in the House have more sense than he does when it comes to fighting terrorism, and the bill passed 315-97.

Even so, do the people of the Fifth District really want a person so wrong on such an important issue representing them in Washington?

Come November we can fix that problem!

Edward W. Clark, Jr. Blue Ridge, VA
