VIRGINIA BEACH – - It should come as no surprise, no fluke, that pollster Frank Luntz found that the public is “mad as hell and they ain’t gonna take it anymore.”
That statement isn’t just his summary, its the wording and feelings of those he has talked to across the nation about the state of our government at all levels.
Today’s headline shortchanging the nation’s seniors by withholding a cost of living adjustment for Social Security recipients for the next 2 years is only going to exacerbate the contempt the age-challenged population has for government.
We predict this story will grow big legs before the furor ends.
Then we have the local story of veteran Peninsula GOP Del. Phil Hamilton padding his own pocket with a quid pro quo job by passing special interest legislation for Old Dominion University and billing the taxpayers $500,000 for the cost.
In a special pre-arrangement ODU gave Del. Hamilton a part time $40,000/year political job. That’s more than many of his constituents make a year

Rep. Glenn Nye
VNS predicts major political mayhem will grow and the governmental landscape will become even more chaotic as conservatives make major runs on the liberal power structure.
Monday, VNS reported that the mayor of Seattle has already become the first victim of tax and spend government. We think there are many more on the horizon.
Hiding from voters who want to vent by Rep. Glenn Nye and Virginia’s 2-globe trotting senators will not make their problems disappear.
We felt that Rep. Nye, after becoming a Blue Dog Democrat, was in a safe position for re-election to a 2nd term. But his hiding out from an honest confrontation and debate with his constituents, can lead to his overthrow by a strong GOP challenger, who at this point appears to be Scott Rigell, innocently naive about government, but honest in his dealings with people. That’s what will count: Being honest with the people and being one of them!
As Luntz said, the public wants bold actions and solutions. Quoted in the Virginian-Pilot, he said, “Not just action, but bold action. They’re prepared for you to do things that have never been done before because they believe that we’ve never been in this situation before.”
At this point, Americans DON’T TRUST THEIR GOVERNMENT! PERIOD!
VNS goes to review a top vegetarian restaurant and mistakenly orders a beef burger! Yuk!
WOW! Bistro Roca & Antler's Bar Restaurant. Well off the beaten path in this beautiful mountain town, Bistro Roca was a surprising find in our search for fine cuisine and great service.
Psghetti's Restaurant in Blowing Rock, NC is overrated and overpriced for its pseudo Italian cuisine. A review.
VIRGINIA BEACH – - Out-of-the-way, Margie&Ray’s Seafood Restaurant, 1240 Sandbridge Rd., provided for a nice drive out of the suburbs, for dinner this weekend.
Although we’ve passed the location many times over the past 2 decades or more, we’d never (1). had the time; nor (2). bothered to stop to investigate what it offered.

Fresh, homemade, tasty, properly spiced and great service: What else could you want? Does not, however, serve alcoholic beverages.

Let us indeed hope so. The deals being made and passed on to the coming generations display the gross level of irresponsibility common in today’s government “representatives”. Please, help “vote the bums out”.
