Dear Dr. Banks:
[Editor’s Note: Willam C. Banks is a professor at INSACT at Syracuse University - the Institute of Nationalecurity and Counter Terrorism. He wrote Kuchta back saying the following report is ‘all news to me, if true.”]
About ten days ago, I heard a report from a young, independent, female news reporter who had spent considerable time in post-Gadhafi Libya, assert on national TV that the caves around Derna, Libya, held Al Qaeda fighters and stolen weapons from Gadhafi's armories. These weapons include the shoulder-fired, anti-aircraft missiles known as Manpods(?).
Can you direct me to any current sources who may be able to confirm or deny this information? The young lady put it matter-of-factly like everybody in that part of the world knows that both weapons and fighters are there.
My aim is simple enough. If this reporter knows where the weapons cache is, why won't the US use its satellite resources to pinpoint and destroy the caves?
All the best,
John P. Kuchta Jr.
[Of Banks reply, Kuchta said, “Nobody knows sh-t, sees sh-t or smells sh-t. But they all make big bucks. That’s what I want to do when I grow up.]
