VNS Blogger Ann Melrose lived in Haiti. She knows the original poverty, not made many times worse by the earthquakes.
As the outpouring of relief supplies continues, Ann makes the point that because of the many amputations and limb injuries there should be set up a clearing house for medical equipment such as wheel chairs, walkers, canes, etc.
She writes, "I've watched a lot of the outpouring of supplies for the Haitians -- water, food, medical support.
"In all of the drives, I have not heard of any for specific medical supplies, such as canes, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs.
"Because of injuries sustained, those who survive will need this kind of equipment. It has to come from somewhere."
