Shucet

VIRGINIA BEACH - - How long have we been saying it:  Virginia Beach citizens are going to get stuck helping pay off Norfolk's debt for the corrupt Light Rail project.

That buzzard is coming home to roost as new HRT chief Phil Shucet comes to Virginia Beach council to extort $250,000 to pay for part of the light rail study - Virginia Beach was never involved in.

Reid Greenmun the Virginia Beach Taxpayer Alliance's transportation guru said, this is clearly an issue of extortion.  Virginia Beach had always been told that the study would be paid for by federal and state grants.

Even Councilman John Uhrin and member of HRT's board, said under the corrupt management of X-CEO Michael Townes, "…we were told we had the money to complete the study."

Activities involving the light rail project are clearly criminal:  The cost jumping $108 MILLION in 1 year without the board even knowing about it?  Impossible.  Or criminal.

HRT says the total cost of the study is $6.6 MILLION.  Greenmun said the original documents seeking the grant that he has lists the study cost at $5.4 MILLION. "How," he asked, "did it go up $1.2 MILLION in 1 year."

This region is going to be bled to death economically if this situation isn't stopped by citizens now.

The council is going to consider Shucet extortion request at Tuesday's meeting.

Call your council members and tell them if you are willing to pay for Norfolk's criminal activity in mis-financing the light rail project.

Somebody stole somebody's money and now they are coming at the money of the people in Virginia Beach, who have no obligation to pay anything.  Mayor Will Sessoms, a lackey of the Norfolk establishment, endorses giving Shucet the funds from Virginia Beach depleted coffers.

It didn't take Phil Shucet too long to follow in Mike Townes foot steps . . . odd, on May 19th, 2009 Mr. Townes briefed the Virginia Beach City Council. He stated the cost of the SEIS and AA study was $5.7M. Yet the Piloot is now reporting a cost of $6.6M, just 8 months later.

... and for some reason the study is now being delayed until AFTER the next City Council election and possibly dragged out until after Norfolk's light rail project is done - for public relations purposes perhaps?

That the SDEIS wasn't going to be back until after the November, 2010 election always was the case.

Norfolk Tide opening? Given the construction delays, the Virginia Beach SDEIS will probably be back first.
